Batsmen dominate Pioneer Premier tourney

JEDDAH — Batsmen dominated the Modern Pioneer Premier Summer Cricket Tournament, which is being sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company and organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) here.

Premier Division

Islamic Development Bank (IDB) was beaten by My Care Hala by 8 wickets. IDB was bowled out for 140. Arif Nazeer was the main scorer with 45. Adnan claimed 2-33, Imran 2-28, Mohammed Taiyyab 2-10 and Jameel 1-30.

My Care Hala, in reply, reached 144-2 in 76 balls as Shahbaz Rasheed hammered an unbeaten 94 in 43 balls with 6 sixes and 9 fours. He first added 51 with Kashif Shafeeq (30) and then 87 for the unbroken third wicket with Babar Hussain (10). Kashaan and Farooq were the wicket-takers.

AOT thrashed Pepsi Deccan Knights by 55 runs. AOT plundered 219-8 as Faiq Habeeb scored 47 and Qaiser Lateef 44 to get to 141 from 49-4. Zeeshan then hit 37. Ishaq took 3-34, Athar Abdulquddus 3-55, while one wicket each went to Akbar and Mohammed.

Pepsi Deccan Knights could manage only 164 despite Mazhar playing a classic innings of 90 in 43 balls with one six and 16 fours. Wahid took 2-25, Imran Yusuf 2-47, while a scalp each was claimed by Osman, Zeeshan and Faisal.

Afternoon Division

Nestle Milo trounced UCC by 9 wickets. UCC was bundled out for 105. Sohaib made 24 and Imran Asad 32. Imran Sarwar took 2-8 and Iftikhar Ali 2-15. Nestle Milo reached 109 in 52 balls as Ali Nawaz smashed an unbeaten 74 with 6 sixes and 7 fours and Ahsan 20 not out.

Hala International School downed Hala Academy Blue by 4 wickets. Hala Blue posted 181-8. Abdulaleem was retired hurt for 65 off 44 balls and Talha Shaikh scored 46. Hala School, in reply, got to 184-6 with 2 balls to spare. Aftab Khan scored an unbeaten 81 in 56 balls with 8 fours and a six and Emad hit 24. Haider claimed 2-28.

AMI Juffali had the last laugh against Thales Group by 66 runs. AMI Juffali piled up 214-6 through Imad (34) and Najam Uzbak (39). Imran scored 66 in 36 balls and Rafi Gujjar 32. Zahid took 3-38.

Thales Group was bowled out for 148. Amir Shahzad compiled 80 in 47 balls with a six and 12 fours and Amjad Iqbal 27 not out. Shahzad grabbed 4-26 and Rafi Gujjar 2.

Asian Plastic Factory (APF) defeated Jotun Paints by 4 wickets. Jotun Paints posted 155-6. Suleman scored 52 and Shabbir 28. Imran was unbeaten on 35. Rizwan claimed 2-28 and Asim 2-19.

APF had a disastrous start with 2 down for 9 but Usman (36) and Jahangeer (27) steered the team to victory. Asim Ishfaque hammered 59 in 36 balls to get to 156-6. Salman took 3-21.

Lothers humbled Safri by 53 runs. Lothers racked up 203-7. Waqas made 35, Badushah 39, Yasir 35 and Adersh 29. Sohail Shah claimed 3-22. Safri responded with 150. Waseem made 43. Yasir claimed 3-33, Naushad 3-9 and Adersh 2-23.

My Care Hala Green was home against Choudhry-XI by 9 wickets. Choudhry-XI posted 164-7. Asif made 21 and Zahoor Al-Hassan top scored with 63 in 35 balls. Azeem was run out for 54 in 35 balls.

MCH Green reached 166-1 in 102 balls with Nadeem hammering an unbeaten 87 in 55 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes and Amir making 51 in 26 balls.
Fuchs Alhamrani got the better of Hyundai by 8 wickets. Hyundai was bundled out for 99. Fuchs Alhamrani reached the target of 100 in 60 balls with 8 wickets to spare as Abdulghafoor scored an unbeaten 41.
