RIYADH – The Shoura Council on Monday approved an amendment in article nine of the Bylaw for Foreign Schools operating in the Kingdom so as to enable embassy schools to own buildings or land to establish schools for their community members.
According to the amendment, the Private Education Council will examine the requests from embassies submitted to the Ministry of Foreign in this regard.
The council shall take a decision on the request within 30 days after completing all the necessary procedures by the concerned embassies in this regard.
In the event of endorsing the request, the council shall present it to the Council of Ministers through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the approval. It is stipulated in the amendment that the property shall not be government owned one or allocated for educational facility earlier. In the event of getting approval, the ownership of the land shall be in the name of the embassy and should not be used for other purposes.
The Shoura also approved a proposal to carry out studies about enacting a law to unify the benefits for the dependents of martyrs and protect their rights.
Hamad Al-Fahaad, a member, presented the proposal to draw up a ‘martyr law'. Yahya Al-Samaan, assistant president of the Council, said that the Council approved with an overwhelming vote to prepare a comprehensive law aimed at protecting all rights of the family members of those martyred in action and simplify procedures to get the allowances.
