JEDDAH – Civil Defense firefighters brought under control a fire that broke out in one of the warehouses in the industrial city in south Jeddah Friday morning. Spokesman for the Civil Defense in Makkah Region Col. Saeed Sarhan said the firefighting teams prevented the blaze from spreading to neighboring buildings and restricted it to an area in the warehouse where tobacco products had been stored. The firefighters had a hard time combatting rising flames from the main entrance of the warehouse. They used foam to contain the inferno. Several firefighting units and equipment were kept on standby in case the fire erupted again. No casualties were reported and the material losses from the fire are yet to be estimated.
