JEDDAH – Five Indian students, who were returning home after sitting for class 12 examination, were seriously injured in a car accident on Friday. Muzammil Ahmed (Lucknow), Usama Muhammad (Gujarat), Huzaifa Mahmoud Al-Bari (Lucknow), and Ajaz Muhammad (Hyderabad) from International Indian School Jeddah, and Lloyd Cheruvathur Samson (Kerala) from Al Falah International School (DPS Jeddah) were admitted to Al Jedaani Hospital and Soliman Fakeeh Hospital. The accident occurred on Tadamun Al-Arabi Street between Prince Miteb Street and Dallah Street near the Saudi Aramco Residential Compound in Al-Rehab district at around 11.20 a.m. The condition of some of the students, who sustained head and other bodily injuries, is reportedly critical. They were traveling in a Toyota Corolla car owned by Muzammil's father, and the driver lost control and the car hit a tree on the roadside. IISJ Managing Committee Chairman Mohammed Abdul Raziq, Principal Syed Masood Ahmed and other school officials as well as parents rushed immediately to the hospitals where the students were admitted and being treated. Ahmed said the accident happened a few minutes after the students left school after appearing for the economics paper of the Central Board of Secondary Education examination. “We have donated blood as directed by the hospital authorities and are staying within reach of the two hospitals in order to provide any emergency support,” he added.
