JEDDAH — An elementary school student died in hospital Saturday following serious injuries she sustained after she was run over by a car. Ruba Al-Shareef was trying to cross the street opposite her school when a speeding car driven by a teenager appeared out of nowhere and hit her. She was admitted to ICU for two days after which she passed away. Her housemaid, who happened to be near the accident location, tried to push Ruba out of the way but could not save her in time. The maid was also hit by the vehicle and she lost her eyesight. She is currently in ICU as well.
