IYWA hosts its annual career guidance program in Jeddah

he Indian Youth Welfare Association (IYWA) hosted a career guidance program on June 1 at Elite function hall, where speakers from different faculties and professions provided useful information and guidance on various courses and career prospects to Grade X and XII students and their parents.
Chief Guest Indian Consul General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai encouraged students to know their strengths before choosing a career. “Children of today know what they are doing, they have their minds set even before they reach high school. The role of parents is to support and guide them in a proper way.”
Kidwai also released a CD on “Career Guide” prepared by IYWA containing information related to courses, admissions, scholarship programs and others in universities and colleges in India and abroad.
An all-new IYWA web portal launched by Kidwai offered quick and easy access to essential information on IYWA's events, community programs and information career guidance as part of the organization's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and availability of information to members and community worldwide.
IYWA also took this opportunity to honor Principal Masood Ahmed of the International Indian School, Jeddah, in appreciation for his dedicated services to education and student community in the Kingdom.
Principal Syed Hamed of International Indian School, Jubail, said that the recently declared results of the students were outstanding. With the help of a PowerPoint presentation Hamed also guided the students on how to plan a career. He advised students to do a self analysis before choosing a career path.
Ex-student of IISJ Sayeeduddin shared his experiences of higher education in professional life. He guided the students to prepare a “to do list” before they chose a career option after which, he gave a presentation on the power of Internet and the authenticity of data available on it. He also encouraged students on how to efficiently deal with changes.
Dr Mukhtar Khan, regional director and education consultant of Saudi Arabia Intercontinental Education, spoke about options for a career in emerging fields with much emphasis on hospitality and hotel management.
The program concluded with a short documentary on career options in National Defence Academy, Indira Gandhi National Open University , Colleges of Business Administration, Batterjee Medical College, King Abdul Aziz University, KBN University Gulbarga, National Hospitality and Tourism Institute, Riyadh; ACN College of Engineering and Management, Aligarh, UP; Aspratech Consultants, Hyderabad, AP; UCTI, University Malaysia; Blue Mountains School of Hotel Management, Australia; and Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, Switzerland.
Guest of honor Consul Community Welfare S.D.Murthy, Consul Consular Pranav Ganesh also addressed the students on various career options and guided them to choose the correct path with their years of experience.
Parents and students interacted with representatives from various other universities to gain more insight of their campuses, courses, admissions, fee structures and others.
Earlier President Surendra Pal Singh and Chief Coordinator Muzamil Hussain of IYWA welcomed the gathering followed by Event Coordinator Danish Hassan Ghazi highlighting the details of the event. Vote of thanks was delivered by General Secretary Ghazanfar Ali Zaki.
