JEDDAH — Jeddah Islamic Port witnessed an exciting scenario while unloading a container filled with drugs that arrived from Lebanon. The consignment of 700,000 narcotic tablets, which according to specialists is sufficient to destroy 100,000 youths, was to be dispatched to Riyadh. Sources said the gangsters used numerous SIM cards and names of fictitious establishments in their attempt to smuggle the drugs into the country. They agreed to hand over the consignment after Friday prayers, taking advantage of the quiet weekend. However, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in Jeddah in cooperation with the Customs Department and other related authorities thwarted their plan and arrested the gangsters. The entire drama lasted for six hours.
