The Drug Combat Directorate and Customs have foiled the smuggling and peddling of 1,753,000 narcotic tablets in three sting operations said, Director General of Drug Combat, Major Ibrahim Abu Holail. Roughly 800,000 tablets were seized in Jeddah after information on a smuggling operation through the Red Sea was intercepted by the authorities. Alleged buyers in Riyadh were arrested. Khafji Drug Combat officers seized 813,000 tablets while being smuggled through its border post. 60,000 narcotic tablets were seized at a Kingdom's northern post and recipients arrested in Riyadh. Road Security Patrols seized 2 kilos of Hashish at a checkpoint near Riyadh. All involved were arrested in the Eastern Province. However, Drug Combat officers in Jeddah and Jizan seized 148 kilos of Hashish. In Najran also, Border Guards patrols in Saqam sector seized 40 kilos of Hashish and arrested one of the smugglers after a gunfight. – Okaz __
