Drug gangsters are adding new chemicals to Kiptagon tablets that destroy human brain cells, which could make it impossible to treat users of these tablets if they used them for long, the Anti-Narcotics Directorate said on Sunday. The Directorate, in cooperation with the Saudi Customs, has seized 2,609,777 Kiptagon tablets in two separate operations carried out last week in Jeddah and Riyadh. Major Ibrahim Abu Holayel, spokesman for the directorate, said that in Jeddah's operation, the directorate obtained information on an attempt to smuggle massive quantities of Kiptagon tablets into the Kingdom in a cargo ship coming through the city's port. The Directorate coordinated with customs at Jeddah's Islamic Port and searched the ship, to find almost two million Kiptagon tablets stashed in the ship's cargo holds. Individuals receiving the pills shipping were arrested. The spokesman said the Directorate in Riyadh seized 612,000 Kiptagon tablets last week. This seizure was also in cooperation with the Customs. Major Abu Holayel said that quantities of hashish were seized separately in Riyadh, Jeddah, Jizan, Asir, Najran and Hail. The seized hashish weighed a combined 547 kilograms. All of the people involved were arrested and referred to investigating bodies before being prosecuted. – Okaz __
