NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis, the fourth-best scorer in the NBA, suffered a severe right shoulder bruise Saturday in a 107-72 loss to the Chicago Bulls. Davis, averaging just under 25 points a game, was pulled in the lopsided defeat after X-rays on his shoulder were negative for a more severe injury. After completing an alley-oop dunk in the second quarter, Davis' hands slipped off the rim and he landed hard on his right shoulder. Davis stayed in the game briefly before being removed to be examined. Davis netted only eight points in 13 minutes before being pulled and New Orleans was not the same after he departed, finishing with a season-low point total for a full game. The Bulls pulled ahead 48-39 at half-time and then outscored the Pelicans 33-17 in the third quarter, which began with a 20-3 Chicago run, on their way to routing New Orleans. Derrick Rose and Spanish big man Pau Gasol each scored a game-high 20 points, with Gasol also grabbing 15 rebounds. Reserve Tony Snell added 19 points and Jimmy Butler had 18 points. Tyreke Evans led the Pelicans with 15 points. Chicago improved to 31-20, staying just ahead of Cleveland atop the Central division, while the Pelicans fell to 27-24, slipping 1 1/2 games behind Phoenix for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth. Warriors 106, Knicks 92: The Golden State Warriors held off a furious fourth quarter surge by the New York Knicks, winning 106-92 at Madison Square Garden. Golden State (40-9) was led by forward Draymond Green, who scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while guard Stephen Curry added 22 points and six rebounds. The Knicks, down by 26 points late in the third quarter, got within five points with 4:20 to play before the Warriors pulled away again. Mavericks 111, Trail Blazers 101 (OT): Dirk Nowitzki drained the game-tying three-pointer late in regulation and scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to an improbable 111-101 overtime victory against the Portland Trail Blazers. All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge and point guard Damian Lillard appeared to have Portland primed to pick up a rare road win against a playoff team but the Blazers squandered an 11-point lead in the final two minutes of regulation. Bucks 96, Celtics 93: Brandon Knight scored 26 points and Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a double-double for the fourth time in his last five games as the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Boston Celtics 96-93. Boston forward Jae Crowder missed a three-point attempt as time expired and the Celtics' three-game winning streak was over. 76ers 89, Hornets 81: Forward Robert Covington scored 22 points as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Charlotte Hornets 89-81. Philadelphia outscored the Hornets 40-11 over a 13-minute span beginning late in the second quarter, turning a 16-point deficit into a game-winning 13-point lead. Wizards 114, Nets 77: Guard John Wall scored 17 points as the Washington Wizards used a dominating first half to snap a season-high five-game losing streak with a 114-77 home victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Jazz 102, Kings 90: Small forward Gordon Hayward scored a game-high 30 points to help the Utah Jazz halt a three-game losing streak in a 102-90 win over the Sacramento Kings. — Agencies
