JEDDAH — The Red House won the overall championship in the Annual Athletic Meet 2014– 15 (1X–X11 Block, boys' section) of the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) here recently. Blue House claimed second place and Green House third. Athletic championship in Under-19 Category was won by Red House, followed by Blue and Green while the Under-16 honors went to Yellow House, Green and Red in that order. Individual championship: Under-16 — Fawad Kareem of Class X B6 (Blue House); Under-19 — Nuwais Akbar of Class X1 B3 (Red House), Nafih Ameer of Class X11 B4 (Blue House) and Mohammed Ahmed of Class X11 B2 (Red House). The opening ceremony commenced with the recitation of a few verses from Holy Qur'an by Abdul Moiz of Class X B1. Musharaf of Class X B1 translated the verses. A bouqet was presented to chief guest Mohammed Raziq Abdul Vahid, chairman of the IISJ managing committee, by Literary Secretary Taha Ameen. After School Headboy Mohammed Maniyar welcomed the gathering the chief guest, accompanied by Principal Sayed Masood Ahmed, hoisted the school flag. The athletes then took the oath of sportsmanship, administered by School Sports Secretary Sayed Junaid. While addressing the gathering chief guest declared the meet open. He also lit the torch and handed it over to principal who relayed it to school sports secretary and Nafih, vice captain of the school football team, who took it to the ground. — SG
