JEDDAH — Red House claimed the Class VI–VIII Boys Section Trophy with 196 points at the Annual Athletics Meet held at the International Indian School Jeddah here recently. The Red and Green houses shared the Athletics Championship, while Osama Syed of Class VIII-B2 of Red House (Under-14) and Joshua T. Jacob of Class VI-B6 of Green House (Under-12) were the individual champions. Earlier the meet started off with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur'an by Saud Iqbal. Head Prefect of the Block Rizin Ahmed welcomed the gathering and Sulaiman Saleem Khan, sports secretary, administered the oath to the students. Principal Syed Masood Ahmed lit the torch and handed it on to Sulaiman S. Khan, Red house cricket team captain, before declaring the meet open. A medley of karate, folk dance and spectacular skate displays kicked off the action. The morning session featured a range of events from sprints to relay. There were around 140 participants divided into two categories — Under-14 and Under-12. They competed for their houses — Red, Blue, Yellow and Green, in individual and group events. The principal, the Controller of Examinations and the House Masters gave away awards to the winners. — SG
