MAKKAH — Five expatriate children of an African nationality were killed in a fire that broke out on Thursday in a rundown home in the Al-Fayhaa neighborhood of Makkah. Neighbors managed to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage before the Civil Defense arrived at the scene. Makkah Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Saleh Al-Elayani said the fire quickly spread due to the material used in building the house, which is located about half a kilometer away from the main road. He added that one of the neighbors had sustained burns to his hand and was transported to hospital. An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
