With regard to the article "Stop depicting Saudi men as monsters!" (June 20), women can be clever and sneaky and they can exploit the "weaker sex" stereotype. There are men who are actually abused by women, but they do not feel that they can admit it. I think women should refrain from "crying wolf" every chance they get. Sure women have rights, but men also have rights! How many women are actually obliged by and are acting according to Islamic teachings? The subject is blown out of proportion, and if it continues, men will soon be asking for their rights! T. Tawfiq, Online response II. Many of these women eventually expose their real feelings. You cannot hide what is in your heart too long. Many of these so called "modernized" women are either divorced or they are involved in illegal things one way or the other. And they try to blame men for things when in fact they have no one to blame but themselves for their own problems. Saad, Online response III. I thank the author for speaking out on behalf of men.We have had enough of this demonization depicted by these so-called activists. The bottom line is that we as men work hard to provide for our wives, take care of our daughters and also foot the bill, putting our family's needs before ourselves. So we deserve better than this abuse and it is about time we rise up and protest the bigotry of some of these activists. Azaan, Online response IV. As long as the legal system remains patriarchal and tribal and allows Saudi men to treat women badly, this will be a problem, because bad guys are seldom stopped. But yes, it is true that many Saudi men are very decent people. Selima, Online response
