I thank the respondents to the letters collectively titled "No need for all women graduates to work" (Dec. 22). According to your names, you must be males. We value your opinion but let's hear what a female graduate has to say about the issue. Or ask your wives, sisters and mothers to respond and see what their thoughts are. Wouldn't it be very strange if women would be asked what they think about male graduates not finding work? Just asking for equality, so ask women what they think. One of the responses was "best deal is to marry a nice man and raise children". Really? Then why get an education? Fatima, Online response II. Is education only for finding a job? Don't we need knowledge to deal wisely with our everyday issues outside the workplace? Today, the new generation pursues education to have a good-paying job and looks down at menial jobs. That's why no one wants a job in agricultural field or farming. This kind of job is kept for the uneducated. Women who are keen to find a job suited to their special skills or needs can work. Everything comes with a price which working women also have to pay. Abraham, Online response III. What if the table is turned and the Saudi men are the ones at the other side of the gender divide. What if they are banned from working, told to just marry and take care of the kids and be a good husband to his wife. What if the wife is the one wielding the authority and saying you are not permitted to go some place without her permission. What will the men feel if the table is turned against them? There will be widespread protests and chaos that are sure to happen. Manong, Online response IV. Why should a woman get an education? Educating a girl means educating a family. To educate your children, you need to have good a education. Hassan, Online response
