Aijaz Ahmed Khan JEDDAH — Four teams — ICAD, Jamco, Ktaykit and Peeran Warriors — are fighting it out in the Mini League in the CKB T20 Afternoon League, which is sponsored by MoneyGram under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association, here recently. They are play each other to decide the winner, who will then play the winner of the Morning League. In the 1st week of Mini League matches ICAD scored a thrilling 9-wicket win over Jamco in a one-sided match, while Peeran Warriors beat Ktaykit by 3 wickets. Jamco batted first and posted 171 for 9. Useful contributions came from the blades of Waseem (38), Aqeel (26), Malik Imran (20) and Mubashir (26). Ajit and Waqas bowled a tight length taking 3 wickets each for 20 and 31 runs, respectively. Nishad, Nahdi and Mohsin bagged one wicket each. In response, ICAD raced to a one-sided win reaching 172 for the loss of only one wicket in 15.2 overs. Mohsin manhandled the Jamco bowlers scoring an unbeaten 114 with 9 boundaries and 8 sixes, while Irfan (24) and Shakeel (17 not out) gave him patient support. Karam took the lone wicket to fall. In the other encounter, Ktaykit batted first and put up 173 for 6 wickets. Shafiq (20), Danish (20) Sarfaraz (45) and Naseem (30) chipped in with useful contributions. Hussain pegged them down taking 2 for 42, while Ilyas, Soraj and Shan Ali claimed a wicket each. In reply, Peeran Warriors started watchfully and got a scare in the middle before reaching 174 for 7 in 19.3 overs thanks mainly to Hussain who hit 74 off 39 balls (8 fours, 1 six), while Yousuf added 44. Although Shafique bowled with a tight length taking 4 for 26, he got no support from other bowlers as Peeran Warriors won by 3 wickets.
