With reference to the letters collectively titled “Safety education” published on Feb. 14 in response to the article “Have our roads become killing fields” by Tariq Al-Maeena, I suggest to the authorities to make a one-hour educational film on defensive driving, road ethics and safety tips. Drivers should be obliged to watch the film and take a certificate which will be required for renewal of a driving license or getting a new license. The film should be produced in Arabic, English and other languages and shown in designated offices of the Traffic Department. Hopefully, it will make some changes in the motorists' driving habits or attitudes. AK, Online response
