With reference to the article "A trip down memory lane" (July 31) by Tariq Al-Maeena, there were very few street names in Jeddah in the 1970s. I remember visiting a friend and the directions were "turn left at the purple house and then right at the oil can and then I'll have my son stand on the corner of our street!" It is mostly the younger generation who are greatly affected by technology which has become their bread and butter, so to speak. The younger generation have not experienced the good old days when people had time for each other.
