QUNFUDAH — A family of four were rescued from a fire that erupted in a three-story building in Qunfudah. Makkah Province Civil Defense spokesman, Col. Saeed Sarhan, said the Civil Defense was notified of the fire in the second floor of a building, and that the density of smoke may have trapped a family in the upper third floor. Fire fighters made their way to the third floor, rescued the family from possible suffocation, and inspected the whole building for others who may have also been trapped. The Civil Defense extinguished the fire, and the Red Crescent provided first aid to the family and transferred them to a hospital for further examination. Sarhan pointed out that the fire started in the furniture of a room that caused dense smoke to engulf the entire building. Investigations are still under way.
