Saeed Sarhan, Makkah Region Civil Defense spokesman, said the emergency unit received a call about a fire inside a two-storey building and firemen and ambulances were dispatched immediately to the scene. “The fire started on the ground floor. People living in the upper stories were evacuated. During the search, the teams found a six-year-old Saudi boy inside the house, who died later at the hospital.” Investigations showed that the fire was caused by a short-circuit inside one of the living room's air conditioners, Sarhan said. __
