JEDDAH — Indian expatriates from of Karnataka organized an Iftar party at local restaurant in Jeddah; executive committee members of the forum attended the Iftar party. Karnataka NRI Forum is a non-political, non-profitable and non-religious organization working toward eradicating poverty; give importance of education and to create self-employment opportunities among the financially deprived men and women of the society in Karnataka. General Secretary Syed Nasir Khursheed welcomed all the members, highlighted the importance of Ramadan and described it as a month of peace, love & affection. It is a perfect example of learning by practicing. Fasting will make us understand the feelings of millions of hungry people around the globe. Sri Harsha, Treasurer, Ramadan is an opportunity to avoid all evil things from the life and to continue with same spirit as learned during the holy month. Yashwanth Amin, Joint Secretary, described Ramadan as the month offering the best opportunity to stop all bad habits and restart life thereafter. Mohammed Kalim, Joint Cultural Secretary, said if all the rich people around the world adopt the concept of zakat and 2.5 percent of their savings is given in charity, poverty will diminish from the world. Mohsin Khan, Joint Cultural Secretary, said he enjoyed Ramadan more in home country with friends and relatives, but here we have different essence of Ramadan which makes it more special due to visiting the holy places during these days. Mohammed Arif, Joint Treasurer, said fasting in holy month of Ramadan purifies oneself. Executive member Badrinarayan Herur said, “I have lots of Muslim friends in India, but never had a chance to know about the significance of the holy month Ramadan, but after coming to Jeddah and spending two Ramadans, I understand the inner spirit and significance of Ramadan.” Executive members Shaikh Saud and Mohammed Saheb described Ramadan as a segment of sacrifice and purity in which proper exercise can make person an able human being. Executive members Rafiq Kankanadi, Arif Shimoga, Imtiaz Ahmed and Vishwanath Karkera described the month of Ramadan as a way toward peace and requested all the KNRI Forum members to come forward and work with dedication for the prosperity of less fortunate residents of Karnataka.
