JEDDAH — Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT), a Jeddah-based community welfare and service organization, hosted an Iftar party at a local hotel here. A large number of community members, including heads of other social organizations were present. The Iftar party was chaired by KTT's President Aijaz Ahmed Khan, and the chief-guest was Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor Islamic law, Jamia Nizamia Hyderabad. Naqshbandi made a Dua'a before the Iftar, and reminded the attendees the importance of Ramadan. “It is the holy month bestowed by the Almighty to reap a bounty of rewards for the good deeds done by Muslims,” he said. The event was anchored by General Secretary Syed Khaja Viqaruddin. He said: “Iftar is an occasion where the community members meet and greet each other and share their food with one another.” Viqar further said that it is acustomary for the forum to organize such religious functions to cater to the interest of the community. “This is a true spirit of Islamic brotherhood as it helps Muslims understand their brethren.” The vote of thanks was proposed by forum patron Mohammed Shameem Kausar. He appealed to the audience to strengthen KTT in its drive to eradicate illiteracy in the downtrodden and underprivileged sections of the society after which, a lot of attendees came forward to be part of the noble cause. After breaking the fast, traditional Hyderabadi dishes, such as Haleem and Biryani was served. — SG
