JEDDAH — Indian expatriates from Karnataka, India announced the new and sixth general body of their forum at a local restaurant in the presence of dignitaries from Karnataka recently. The new executive committee and advisory committee formed actively works for social causes anf for the people of Karnataka here and in India. The outgoing president Mohammed Mansour, and senior executive committee members Vishwanath Karkera, Rahgavendra Ashwathnarayana and S M Jaffer from the forum were nominated as members of the advisory committee. The following members were elected as general body office bearers of the forum: Krish Jangal from Hubli was elected as president of the forum, Roshan Rodriguez from Mangalore, first vice president; Manzoor Ahmed from Hassan, second vice president; Syed Nasir Khursheed from Gulbarga, general secretary; Yashwant Amin from Mangalore, joint secretary; Sri Harsha from Bangalore was re-elected as the treasurer; Mohammed Arif from Udupi, joint treasurer; Niaz Ahmed from Mysore, press secretary, Aijaz Ahmed from Shimoga, meeting coordinator; Sabu Chandra from Bangalore, cultural secretary; Mohammed Kaleem from Raichur, Mohammed Saif from Mysore, Mohsin Khan from Bidar were elected as Joint cultural secretaries of the forum. Habeeb ur Rahman from Mangalore was elected as sports secretary, Alok Pattar from Hubli as IT Coordinator and Walter Luwis from Mangalore was elected as Membership Coordinator. S M Jaffer ex-treasurer of the forum conducted the program. Jangal addressed the gathering and thanked the trust for having confidence in him and giving him the responsibility of being the president of the KNRI Forum. He also assured to work as per the community's expectations of the forum and enhance the KNRI forum to support enormous number of needy Kannadigas. Khursheed thanked the previous executive committe of KNRI Forum for reaching this level and hoped to get continuous support for the new team. He described KNRI Forum as non profitable, non religious and non political organization working purely as a social organization to help the poor and needy people irrespective of religion within Karnataka. Mansour congratulated the new team and advised them to work with the same spirit and elevate the forum to a higher level. Roshan Rodrigues extended the vote of thanks and in his speech he congratulated all the new office bearers and committee members for their contribution in the past and requested them to be like family members to strengthen the forum. He thanked the Consulate General of India and the consul staff for their tremendous support toward the KNRI Forum. He also thanked the sponsors for their continuous support to the forum. — SG
