JEDDAH — Karnataka NRIs (KNRI) celebrated their annual general meet here at a local restaurant Thursday. Prominent personalities of Karnataka were among the guests. President of KNRI Forum Mohammed Mansour addressed the gathering and motivated all the members to come forward and play a vital role in helping the poor and needy people of Karnataka. He thanked the members for having confidence in him and by giving him the opportunity to serve as the forum's president. Syed Nasir Khursheed, acting general secretary of the forum, and Shaikh Saoud, chief coordinator, delivered a presentation on Karnataka tourism and KNRI Forum, highlighting their aims, objectives, vision and achievements. Khursheed briefed about their achievements in helping the poor with education, self employment, and providing medical aid for Kannadigas in Saudi Arabia and Karnataka. He encouraged all Kanadigas to become members for life at the forum. “Support the forum to grow stronger by enrolling new members and sponsoring different projects proposed by the forum's members.” Treasurer of the forum Sri Harsha presented the balance sheet for the current financial year. Niyaz Ahmed, cultural secretary of the forum, anchored the program and introduced the speakers; he also read the congratulatory letter of Mansour, which was sent to the chief minister of Karnataka after winning the election. Roshan Rodrigues, vice president of the forum; Sabu Chandra, joint-cultural secretary; Yashwant Amin, joint treasurer; Mohammed Saheb, joint secretary; and Walter Luwis, membership co-coordinator of the forum, also addressed the gathering and welcomed the guests. KNRI forum sponsors Sanbulla, ITL World, Internmodel Freight, Al-Abeer Polyclinic, Basem Shipping & Logistics Co. Ltd., Natcon Saudi Arabia, Kanoo, Malabar Gold, Jotun Pain, Jamiyyatul Falah were presented with mementos. Vote of thanks was delivered by Krish Jangal, IT coordinator. On behalf of KNRI Forum he expressed deep sense of appreciation to all the guests and members of KNRI forum for attending the function. He also expressed gratitude and praised the efforts of the executive team members for providing perfect logistic support to successfully organize the event. Earlier, Mohammed Kalim, joint cultural secretary, started the program by singing a famous Kannada song. Vishwanath karkera and S.M. Jaffer — inducted as new members to the forum — were requested to attend the meetings regularly. After dinner, guests were entertained by a cultural program in which melodious Kannada and Hindi songs were sung by joint cultural secretaries of the forum Mohammed Kalim and Mohammed Saifuddin.
