JEDDAH — From as far as 57.5 points (348.5-291) in the 11th week Shawly Bowlers managed to chop Ekis-4 lead to 2.5 points after four weeks of grueling 120-65 chase on above average cropping and a Team of the Week honor this 15th session of the FEDBG-FMBL Invitational Meet at the Bowling City here. Ekis had been impressively dominant with five Team of the Week honors in nine weeks and above average production of 34 and 26 points on the 10th and 11th sessions with their stalwart Zaldy Bacero garnering four Bowler of the Week honors, making him the first undisputed player of the league. But with Bacero skipping three sessions Ekis remarkably slowed down which Shawly took advantage for keen pursuit. It was Ruel Perez who served Shawly the best with notable back-to-back Bowler of the Week accolades in 12th and 13th weeks. Perez clinched his BOWs on superlative totals of 673 (212, 198, 263) and 664 (228, 217, 219). Greatly helping Perez in Shawly's pursuit was Arnel Bautista who posted personal hi-game of 268 scratch in the 14th week. Bautista surpassed target score with handicap of 271 with his 280, including 12 handicap but missed the BOW honor when Nezar, a Syrian national, totaled 724. Nezar posted games of 230, 278 and 216 in leading Leo Apacible-captained Lane Aligner squad which gained 23 session points. But though unlucky for BOW Bautista successfully won the jackpot cash prize of SR2,150. The 15th week is another ruthless pursuit for Shawly with Cloyd Opena starring with 650 on games of 192, 264 and 194. But like Bautista, Opena also missed BOW honor as Richard Antonio bested the session with his 707 from games of 235, 226 and 246 that led to Silver Strike's pursing of 31 session points. Nurissa Ramos is the lady Bowler of the Week with 628. Perez and May Lourdes also contributed well with 631 and 619 on this sterling output of Shawly which led to the further chopping of Ekis advantage to 2.5 points (413.5–411). Nestor Sanosa (598), Edison Arena (561) and Bautista (532) also provided needed help in this Shawly's pull off. Sharing Shawly was the Micah's Pride which tied the earlier on the Team of the Week honor on 33-all points to keep third place at 401 points in front of Pin Rockers (363.5). Making it happened for Micah's Pride were hi-precision bowler Rolly Vistal with 652, perfect-game achiever Melvin Lising (650), no-fear lady bowler team captain Ester Santoc (600), impulsive Rey Feliciano and team main column Oca Bernabe. Team standings to-date Ekis-4 413.5 pts, Shawly Bowers 411, Micah's Pride 401, Pin Rockers 363.5, Silver Strike 352.5, BCT Mongoose 310.5, JTC Keglers 227, Lane Aligner Squad 226.
