JEDDAH — Jibran's ton and Zaheer's haul of 5 wickets were the highlight of the WPCA Summer Morning Hyundai MYNM Champions Trophy as the tournament entered the quarterfinals stage here recently.
QRCC, Mercedes Benz, Stallions, Hala Academy White and ALJ Toyota were the teams which came out on top.
Mercedes Benz thumped ATS by 127 runs. Mercedes racked up 203-4 with Jibran hammering 124 off 57 balls (16 boundaries and 4 sixes). He added 100 in 49 balls with Shafeeque (16). Saifuddin added 20, while Ilyas remained unbeaten on 21. Dr. Basheer took 2-28. ATS, in reply, was bundled out for 76 as Zaheer grabbed 5-29 and Basit claimed 3-28. Lateef hit 31.
Stallions beat Nesma Holding by three wickets. Nesma put on 149-7 as Kumar top scored with 39 and Saidu hit 28. Hasan Ali took 4-38. Stallions, in reply, lost early wickets, but Usman Ali made 24 as Waqas Munawer compiled 31 and Faraz Sohail 20 to take their team to 150-7 for a 3-wicket win. Benitan took 3-27.
Hala Academy White beat Al-Mazroi-XI by 62 runs. Hala Academy White racked up 212-3 with Pervez remaining unbeaten on 79 in 41 balls (12 fours and one six). Shahid added 59 (6 fours and 4 sixes) as the two put on 92 whereas Sohail scored 19 to get past the 200 mark. Al-Mazroi openers were in good touch as they posted 100 with Faisal making 44 and Farook compiled 46. But, the rest failed and the team was left stranded at 150-8. Shaklar took 4 wickets for 11 runs and Rehan 2-25.
QRCC thrashed AAA by 5 wickets. AAA scored 160-7 with skipper Naveed Nawaz smashing 63 (12 fours) and Tahir Ayyub 16 as they made 84 for the first wicket. Zahoor added 24. Yasir scalped 3-28 and Saleem Shaikh 2-32. QRCC chased with Amir smashing 63 off 43 balls (2 sixes and 6 fours) as Abdulrauf added 18. Zahid remained unbeaten on 40 to get to the winning post with 5 wickets in hand. Yaseen took 4-28 and Mofeed 1-26.
ALJ Toyota beat Johnson Control by 32 runs. ALJ Toyota plundered 205-5 with Tanveer Zamane scoring 40 off 28 balls, Adil smashing 50 off 22 balls, Bilal hitting 41 in 18 balls and Imran Rana making 20. Amir took 2-30. Johnson Control began the chase with Naveed making 40 off 20 balls and Naveed Senior adding 22. The batsmen to follow, however, did not click except Rashid (36) and Assad (21) to be restricted to 173. Tanveer Zamane took 2-25.
