JEDDAH — Khubab of Johnson Control hit a ton and Faizan Arif took a five-wicket haul in the WPCA Hyundai Morning Tournament here recently. Johnson Control beat Al-Karam by 66 runs. Johnson Control racked up 206 for 4 in 16 overs with Khubab blasting 111 (14 fours and 5 sixes). Amer and Ali added 18 each. Al-Karam, in reply, also batted with determination as Zameer hit 53 (5 fours and 3 sixes), Haroon made 34 and Aqeel 23, but could only score 140-6. The second match saw ALJ Toyota edge Orbital Horizon by one run. ALJ Toyota put on 135 for 9. Basheer scored 51, while Rifaqat added 26. Babar took 3-20, Azeem 2-17 and Tarique Butt 2-20. Chasing, Orbital Horizon could manage only 134-8. Kashif hammered a 25-ball 50, while Farid Afridi added 21. Arif was again among the wickets grabbing 4-25, while Tanveer Zamane accounted for 3-23. In the third encounter of the day, AAA started well with Tahir Ayyub making 36, skipper Naveed Nawaz 22, while Ashraf and Sadiq Memon contributed 19 each. Once the top order was back the automen crumbled against Faizan who picked 5 wickets for 20 runs in four overs and Mubeen had 2-19 to restrict AAA to 121. For Al- Mazroi had Sufiyan Laheri 47 and Sajid 39 as they added 86 runs for the first wicket. Noman took 2-33. In another match, Al-Saudi-XI beat Mercedes Benz by eight wickets. Mercedes Benz, using the track first, was bowled out for 147. Jibran made 42, while Babar added 32 and Shafeeq 20. Bilal took 3-25, Fuoad Shams 2-32 and Mazhar Abbasi 2-33. In reply, Al-Saudi-XI needed just 75 balls to reach the target (152) for the loss of two wickets. Skipper Nadeem Saad Al-Nadwi remained unbeaten on 60 (7 fours) and Ghayour Sajjad hit 42 in 18 balls (5 fours and 3 sixes) as they both scored 80 runs for the first wicket.
