JEDDAH — QRCC, Orbital Horizon, Johnson Control, Mercedes Benz, AAA, New Young Stars and Kabbani won their respective matches in the WPCA Summer Morning Tournament sponsored by Hyundai Naghi here recently.
Hala Academy White, batting against AAA, posted 167 for 7. Skipper Furqan top-scored with 36, Munawwar made 33, Jahanzeb 30 and Shamsuddin remained unbeaten on 27. Ahmed Naveed grabbed 3-30.
AAA achieved the target of 169 with 9 wickets in hand off 98 balls. Tahir Ayyub blasted 13 boundaries and a six to remain unbeaten on 96 in 50 balls. Adnan Shah hit 36 as both Tahir and Adnan put on 116 runs for the unbroken second wicket in 74 balls. Skipper Naved Nawaz made 22.
In another match, Haneefa Tigers batted first to post 144 for 6 with Yaser making 37, Omar 32 and Omair 24. Bilal scalped 4 wickets for 17.
New Young Stars, in reply, reached the winning target of 147 in mere 86 balls with 5 wickets in hand as Bilal exhibiting fine all-round performance to blast 78 not out in 33 balls. His innings was studded with 3 sixes and 11 fours. Hassan took 3-35.
The third match saw Jeddah Royals opt to bat first against Mercedes Benz, but they could manage only 139 for 7. Ibrahim made 41, Azhar 27 and Abed 21, while others failed to reach into double figures. Habeeb took 3 wickets, while Javed picked up 2-8.
Mercedes Benz, in reply, reached the required target of 140 in 79 balls with 7 wickets in hand. Ilyas top-scored with 52 in 23 balls with 8 fours, while his partner Shafeeque hit 41 as they added 93 runs for the 1st wicket in 52 balls. Jibran made 23. Nanajee took 2-20.
In the fourth tie, Johnson Control, using the track first, plundered 167 for 7 with Shaeikh Ali slamming 8 fours to remain unbeaten on 69. Naveed added 39. Shahid grabbed 2-18 and Aijaz 2-28.
OTEX, in reply, was bundled out for 140 to lose by 27 runs as Qasim stroked 37, Naeem 28, Maqsood 22. Ahmed grabbed 3-24, Sheikh Ali 2-9, while Naveed and Ibrahim claimed two wickets each.
Another encounter saw ATS bat first and being bundled out for 110. Imran top-scored with 36, while Samir made 20. Shahid Choudhry grabbed 4 wickets for 17 and Tariq Butt scalped 3-27.
Orbital Horizon achieved victory target of 111 for the loss of 5 wickets in 96 balls. Tehseen hit 35 and Faisal 25. Dr. Basheer took 2-16, while Dr. Naveed bagged 2-27.
The sixth match saw QRCC opt to bat first and rack up 174 for 4. Skipper Saleem Shaikh made 42 in 31 balls, Amir 40 in 18 balls and Abdulrauf 32. Stallions, in reply, could only get to 130 for 8 to lose by 44 runs as Abdulrafay hit 28, Fuad 22 and Usman Rafiq 20. Zafar grabbed 2-11 and Usman 2-13.
The last match of the day saw Kabbani put into bat by Nesma Holdaing. It piled up 145 for 6 with Luqman Ulfat remaining unbeaten on 55 in 32 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes, while Fazlulrehman made 28. Fazal Hussain took 2-16.
Nesma, in reply, was restricted to 124 for 7 despite a classy innings of 74 in 52 balls by Sheraz. Saber took 3-27 and Jameel 2-19.
