RIYADH – Promising Glenn Mar dela Cruz seared the lanes to power Dabarakads to clinch a double by claiming the Best Bowler and Best Team awards during the 1st Week (Opening Day) of the Itqan Tenpin Bowlers Group (IBG) Friday Afternoon Bowling League being held at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC) here. The league is organized by IBG through the untiring effort of IBG Lead Advocate led by Ian Choco and supported by Thales official, Nelson de Vera. Class C Dela Cruz equipped with 30 handicaps exploded a towering 977 points to claim the Week's Best Bowler honor. Dela Cruz had on lines of 253, 214, 159 and 231. Dela Cru'z awesome performance helped Dabarkads humble the no-show team by posting 25 big points. Aside from Dela Cruz who delighted were fellow members Dong Yamco (910), Irine Pua (892), Ramil Glorioso (785) and Charlie Cheng (749). Thales — considered as one of the powerhouse team mentored and managed by Nelson de Vera — hammered Zezo, 25-6. Thales lost the week's best awards to Dabarkads in the total team output (4,173 – 4,313). Star of the show in Thales squad was the hard-hitting Andro Tismo. Red-hot Tismo scored a towering 290 points in the first game, short of 10 points for a Perfect 300. Tismo's other scores in the remaining three games are 214, 198 and 213. Ismael Viloria came-in next to Tismo wtih 864 points and he was followed by Erwin Nacario (815), Celis Viloria (809) and Rodel Maranca (770). Top-scoring in Zezo team who have a blind player in their lineups was Fhel Ramos with 811 points (203, 201, 181 and 226). Next to him were Jess Ambon (771), Danny Trinidad (767) and Jojo Miraflor (745). The grueling match between Itqan Tornado and Roll and Bowl resulted at 23-6, in favor of Itqan Tornado mentored by Belle Sabico. At the helm in Itqan Tornado was Sabico with 840 and Ruben Babasa followed Sabico with 824. Bankable Ric Urrutia Jr. together with veteran Butch Mateo and Fred Zacarias impressed too by posting separate series of 773, 769 and 721. Ernie Tulang led Team Roll and Bowl by knocking down a series of 804 in four games. IBG 2nd conference Most Improved Player, Andy Carasig followed Tulang by tallying 772 points. Durable Fred Dioquino hit 750 points to follow Carasig, while Precy Ojena had 749.
