RIYADH – Fernie Ballano and the Roll and Bowl team dazzled to bag the Best Bowler and the Team of the Week awards, respectively, in the 16th Week of the IBG Friday Bowling League, 2nd Conference at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC). The league is sponsored by Hala Int'l. Mabuhay Mobily in partnership with Globe. Itqan Tenpin Bowlers (IBG) organizes the league. On Lanes 7 and 8, Saco quintet rolled past Itqan Tenpin Wizards, 21-15 through Armin Isles, George Sto. Domingo and Jun Sebastian. Isles pumped in 889 points to lead in Saco. He was followed by Sto. Domingo (849) and Sebastian (819). Isles scored 269 in the second game. Buddy “japan” Balisi, Nickson Mesa, Jim dela Rosa and Ferdie dela Rosa impressed too by posting separate series of 439, 393, 391 and 359 in a two-game outings. Bowler of the Week Fernie Ballano, equipped with 8 handicaps, unleashed his deadly form to score a four-game series of 1,001. Ballano carded 254, 261, 217 and 237. He is now the current league holder of the individual high series handicap, erasing previous holder Ernee Noto. Supporting Ballano were Arnold Jesena (790), Reynald Medina (724), Doy del Moral (552), Ric Singson (377) and lefty Nap Torres who scored 245 in one game. Roll and Bowl demolished Bankrun, 24-9 to lift the Team of the Week Award. At the limelight in Roll and Bowl were the durable duo of Fred Dioquino (887) and Andy Carasig (856). Ric Ventura, Ernie Tulang and Bobby Jamora posted separate series of 768, 761 and 721. Little known Marco Torres topscored in Bankrun with 816 points. He was followed by Angel Caasi (782), Dawood Sereno (762) and Angelo Train (730). Sam Alinsod contributed 687 points. Magnificent-5 upset Great Balls of Fire, 24-11 through the combined effort of Nelson Respicio (889), Clem Ojeda (837), Emerson Mitra (765), June Daniel (757) and Paul Decena (736). Ed Cruz shone in Great Balls of Fire by tallying 885 points. Sammy San Juan had 798 points while Jess Ambon sealed 702. Jojo Miraflor submitted 608 while Ruben Arinuelo collected 348 series in two games. League leaders, D'Pirates stunned Itqan Tornado, 23-15. At the helm in D'Pirates were Erwin Nacario (866) and Andro Tismo (862). Edwin Atienza and Bembol Velasco posted 789 and 757 series, respectively. Fareed Aquino and Dennis Gabriel sparked 408 and 365 in two matches. Having the best score in Itqan Tornado was veteran Jett Cabana with 801 series. Next to him were Zaldy Torres (791), Butch Mateo (777) and Ruben Babasa(728). Gigi Enriquez downed 614 points while Belle Sabico finished with 186 in one game.
