Blinken, others strongly condemns Houthi targeting of civilians in Saudi Arabia
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 03 - 2021

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken strongly condemned the Houthi terrorist militia of launching a ballistic missile towards Riyadh, and the attack with a military projectile on Jazan Region, which resulted in the injury of five civilians.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Blinken denounced the Iranian-backed militia attack on Marib Governorate, and said that the Houthis are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. He pointed out that Iran's involvement in Yemen is fueling the conflict and threatening greater escalation, miscalculation and regional instability.
He indicated that the Houthi militia uses Iranian weapons, intelligence, training, and support to conduct attacks threatening civilian targets and infrastructure in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Blinken reiterated his country's commitment to promoting accountability for Houthi militia's malign and aggressive actions, which include exacerbating conflict in Yemen, attacking United States partners in the region, kidnapping and torturing civilians, preventing humanitarian aid access, repressing the Yemeni people in areas they control, and orchestrating deadly attacks beyond Yemen's borders.
He added that the United States is working diligently at senior levels alongside the United Nations and others to bring an end to this conflict, and address the humanitarian crisis faced by the people of Yemen.
In London, The United Kingdom denounced Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia's launching of a projectile towards a border village, in Jazan Region, resulting in casualties among a number of civilians and damaging civil facilities.
The British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab reaffirmed in a statement he made here today, that the United Kingdom is committed to the UN efforts exerted to end the conflict, in Yemen, and to build a permanent peace that would provide the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with security.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly condemned and denounced the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia's attempts to target civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's southern region with a Bomb-Laden UAV, which was intercepted and destroyed by the Forces of Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed in a statement today that the continuation of these attacks recently is a dangerous escalation, and new evidence of the endeavor of these terrorist militias to undermine security and stability in the region.
UAE renewed its full solidarity with the Kingdom regarding these terrorist attacks and its support in all measures it takes to preserve its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.
The Arab Parliament too condemned in Cairo Houthi terrorist militia's launching of a projectile towards a border village in Jazan Region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in numerous casualties and damages to civil facilities.
The Arab parliament demanded, in a statement the international community to act quickly and decisively to stop the repeated acts carried out by the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi terrorist militia, indicating that hesitancy of the international community in shouldering its responsibilities towards such practices, encourage the Houthi terrorist militia to continue its terrorist acts.
It also reiterated, in the statement, full solidarity and backing up the Kingdom's efforts and all measures it may take that would maintain its security, stability and its territorial integrity, as well as the safety of its citizens and expatriates on its land.
Also, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned terrorist Houthi militia's attempt of launching a bomb-laden UAV towards civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's southern region, which was intercepted and destroyed by the Forces of Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen.
The OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen stressed the Organization's condemnation of the continued Houthi terrorist militia, and those who provide it with money and weapons, to commit terrorist acts in a systematic and deliberate manner to target civilian objects and civilians in the Kingdom. — SPA
