U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken strongly condemned the Houthi terrorist militia of launching a ballistic missile towards Riyadh, and the attack with a military projectile on Jazan Region, which resulted in the injury of five civilians. In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Blinken denounced the Iranian-backed militia attack on Marib Governorate, and said that the Houthis are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. He pointed out that Iran's involvement in Yemen is fueling the conflict and threatening greater escalation, miscalculation and regional instability. He indicated that the Houthi militia uses Iranian weapons, intelligence, training, and support to conduct attacks threatening civilian targets and infrastructure in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Blinken reiterated his country's commitment to promoting accountability for Houthi militia's malign and aggressive actions, which include exacerbating conflict in Yemen, attacking United States partners in the region, kidnapping and torturing civilians, preventing humanitarian aid access, repressing the Yemeni people in areas they control, and orchestrating deadly attacks beyond Yemen's borders. He added that the United States is working diligently at senior levels alongside the United Nations and others to bring an end to this conflict, and address the humanitarian crisis faced by the people of Yemen.
