Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) said on Thursday it has issued an international tender to purchase about 720,000 tons of feed barley to be supplied during the period of January-February 2021. Governor of SAGO Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Fares stated that the amount specified in the tender will reach the Kingdom aboard 12 ships. Eight ships carrying 480,000 tons will be offloaded at Saudi ports on the Red Sea and four vessels with 240,000 tons will dock at Saudi ports on the Arabian Gulf. The governor confirmed that this tender comes within the organization's plan to meet the local demand for feed barley and maintain its strategic reserve, enabling the private sector to import barley and increase its contribution to the Saudi economy in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030. Eng. Al-Fares added that the organization has signed contracts to import five million tons since the beginning of this year. — SG
