KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Friday recorded 682 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 70,727, the Ministry of Health said in a statement carried by Kuwait News Agency. Of the new cases, there were 461 Kuwaiti citizens and 221 expatriates from different countries, according to the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad. The ministry also announced two new deaths from complications caused by COVID-19, bringing the total number of virus-related fatalities in Kuwait to 471. Dr. Al-Sanad said that there were 124 patients receiving necessary treatment in intensive care units. He added that a total of 4,086 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus tests in the country so far 526,286. Earlier in the day, the health ministry reported that 720 more patients completely recovered from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries from the deadly disease in Kuwait to 62,330. Recently, Kuwait has begun to ease coronavirus restrictions in a phased manner in its bid to return to normal life.
