KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Thursday recorded 620 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 70,045, Kuwait News Agency reported quoting a statement from the Ministry of Health. The ministry also one more death from complications caused by COVID-19, raising the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 469. Of the new cases, there were 423 Kuwaiti citizens and 197 expatriates from different countries, according to the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad. There were 127 patients receiving necessary treatment in intensive care units, Dr. Al-Sanad said. He added that a total of 3,599 additional coronavirus tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus tests in the country to 522,200. Earlier in the day, the health ministry announced that 704 more patients recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries from the disease in Kuwait to 61,610. Recently, Kuwait had been easing coronavirus restrictions in a phased manner in its bid to return to normal life.
