RIYADH —The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) on Sunday warned consumers against the use of "Ez Life" cleansing hand gel, manufactured by the Health and Beauty Cosmetics Factory, as the product is being circulated in the market without registration at the SFDA, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. Furthermore, analysis has proved that the product does not contain 70 percent ethanol as claimed by its manufacturer. This is in clear violation of the Cosmetic Products Regulation, the authority stressed. The SFDA is calling on consumers not to use the product, return it to the sales outlet where they had purchased it from and get a refund. If the salesman refuses to refund the amount paid, then the consumer can call the Ministry of Commerce ‘Reports Center' at 1900. The authority added that it was taking measures and coordinating with the pertinent authorities to ensure withdrawal of the product from the market, preventing its circulation and taking the necessary regulatory measures against violators. In case of the occurrence of any side effects or some defect in the product's quality, the SFDA advised consumers to call it via the Unified Number 19999. Ethanol (ethyl alcohol) is a colorless fluid characterized by its solubility in water, is used in several products, and is effective in getting rid of germs if its content is over 60 percent in personal care products (hand cleansing and sanitizing products).
