RIYADH: The Saudi Food and Drugs Authority (SFDA) has banned 38 herbal and cosmetic products by Lebanese manufacturer Zain Al-Atat. “The products have not been properly studied to ensure their safety or effectiveness, meaning they have not received permission from the Food and Drug Authority,” the SFDA said. “That is a violation of Pharmaceutical Establishments and Products regulation number M/31 date 2004.” The SFDA said it had informed the relevant authorities in order to enforce the ban by removing products from shelves and tackling violators. The SFDA also appealed to the public to be wary of “misleading, baseless claims that can harm consumers”.
