Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments, Dubai bags Quality & Environment Certifications
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 25 - 06 - 2019

Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has awarded two ISO certifications for Quality and Environmental Management Systems to Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments, Dubai, the largest Mercure property in the world with a capacity of 1015 hotel rooms and part of AccorHotels Group.
Presented by André Lacroix, Intertek Group Chief Executive Officer, to Abdul Naseer T. Thodi, General Manager at Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments during a special ceremony held in Dubai, the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certificates were obtained after Intertek completed a series of thorough audits across its processes to ensure the incorporation of the quality and environmental management system requirements. This provides Mercure Dubai Barsha Heights a more solid foundation for its operations and allows it to adapt to changing markets and stakeholder needs.
Focusing on a risk-based and continual improvement approach, ISO 9001:2015 certification helps the organization demonstrate its ability to consistently provide services that meet customer requirements. Similarly, achieving the ISO 14001:2015 certification facilitates in systematic management of environmental responsibilities that contribute to the environmental pillar of sustainability. Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments Dubai is already actively involved in the AccorHotels Group's sustainable Planet 21 initiatives, a 2020 programme centred around people and the planet through business and community activities."
Abdul Naseer T. Thodi, said: "We are delighted and proud to receive two Intertek Management System certifications and would like to thank all the team whose dedication and hard work have been crucial for this achievement. This recognition means a lot to our organisation's relentless quest for quality and sustainability initiatives to be embedded across our hotel's operations, in this highly competitive market in which we continue to strive for excellence. Our team completed a comprehensive implementation of both management systems, where Intertek's team and their expertise were instrumental in facilitating an effective audit and certification process, and for that we would like to extend our deep appreciation."
Samir Ahmed, General Manager Business Assurance Intertek for the Gulf region, said: "I would like to congratulate Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments for achieving these two certifications. These accolades demonstrate the commitment of the company, its leadership, and its team to high international quality and environmental standards. This is great accomplishment that should be celebrated." — SG
