Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 04 - 2019

RIYADH — The winners of the 2019 Alfaisal Science & Technology Day Competition were announced here on Thursday night. Alfaisal Science & Technology Day encouraged Grade 9th to 12th students to undertake scientific study and groundbreaking technology.
Many schools participated in this competition. With support from teachers and parents, the students conducted several researches and developed innovative results to problems, then arranged a display and showcase their work.
The basic aim was to inspire, identify and rejoice student's contribution and brilliance in project-based science & technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Students displayed their projects to the general public, and were assessed by university and corporate evaluators to hand-pick the winners for the grand prizes.
Pakistan International School Riyadh (PISES) received this privilege at Alfaisal University, Riyadh. Here the PISEANS had manifested their intellectual aristocracy and made Pakistani nation proud. Aleeha Syed and Amal Fatima inspired the judges with the unique "Biodegradable Plastics" and achieved the first position. Hadia Sahar of PISES obtained a third position demonstrating "VA IPoc".
Upon receiving the top prize, Aleeha Syed expressed thankfulness and mentioned that she got the opportunity to interact with many students from around the Kingdom. She said that competing with other contestants and winning the first prize was a momentous achievement for her and she is tremendously happy with the results.
On this honor, the Principal of PISES Mohammad Tanveer lauded the subject teachers and students and they won a big round of applause from the audience, with a series of congratulations renting the air.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanveer dedicated this victory to Pakistan on Pakistan Day from PISES Riyadh. He mentioned that it was really a matter of pride for all, especially for the Pakistani community, on this achievement.
"The very agile participation of PISES students was indicative of their teacher's dedication and their parents' great concern about them. Their demonstration of the courage to step forward will open new doors of healthy competition and interaction amongst other students too," he said.
"Winning two main positions is another big achievement by PISEANS. Congratulations to SMC, the winners, their parents and teachers, and to all participants," the principal added."
All students received a participation certificate. Participants admitted to Alfaisal University will also receive a 10% scholarship. Winning projects will be displayed on the Alfaisal University campus.
