PISES holds its annual commendation ceremony

RIYADH — The annual commendation ceremony of the Pakistan International School English Section (PISES) was held in Chancery Hall of the embassy of Pakistan here with PISES duly rewarding its high achievers of IGCSE and ‘A' Level for the year 2015-16 with shields and trophies.
Muhammad Hassan Wazir, deputy head of mission, was the chief guest. School Management Council, Chairman Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayub Meyo, Vice Chairman SMC Rana Sarfraz Ahmed Khan, Gen. Secretary SMC Atif Riaz Khawaja and members SMC Asgher Hussain, Muhammad Azhar, Kashif Rehan, Arshad Malik and link officer for PISES Sardar Muhammad Khattak were among the distinguished guests.
PISES Principal Muhammad Tanvir welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report of the school. He presented a brief profile of all curricular and co-curricular activities. He informed the guests that PISES had got 100% result in IGCSE that included 70% A* and A. He said three "Science Labs" have been set up in Girls' Wing, and highlighted PISES's active participation in sports and co-curricular activities here. "In ISSLR our school secured 3rd position and Saud Raees, the head boy was declared the best athlete of year," he said.
"Similarly, English Spelling Bee competition was held in Al-Najad International School and our students got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in their respective categories. The teachers joined British Council Training workshops as well as different intra-department training workshops at school," Tanveer said, while extending his heartfelt thanks to all for their support and trust.
He appreciated the efforts of Naeem Akhter, Ms. Sajida Emran, Faisal Aziz Malik, Nadeem Iqbal Awan, Ms. Aysha Munawar, Ms. Saima Noreen, Ghulam Mujtaba, Saqib ur Rehman, Muhammad Khalid, Asif Ali, Col. retd. Muhammad Arif, Ms. Farrukh Anis, Ms. Maryam Idrees, Ms. Sadia Omer, Ms. Sahibzada Riaz, Ms. Rehana Haroon, Ms. Farah Deeba, Sajida Sharif, and Ms. Riffat Sukhera along with all the members of administrative and support staff whose contributions made the year successful.
The event began with the recitation of verses from Surah Al-Imran by Abdullah Amin (student of AS). The English translation of the verses was read out by Salman Sabuh Bin Saeed (student of Grade A2).
The shields and prizes were given in four different categories. First, to students from grade 1 to 9 who topped all the sections of their respective grades. The next category was of the ‘O' Level students. The students who appeared in May/June 2016 IGCSE were given shields for their excellent performance in this category. In the next segment, A Level students were given shields.
Wazir, accompanied by Khattak, Prof. Dr. Sultan, Ahmed, Khawaja,Tanveer, Azhar and Malik gave away the shields to all these students.
Among the top achievers in IGCSE and A Level were Zainab Tariq Soomro with top marks in CIE A Level ICT in the Central Region as well scoring 4th highest marks in mathematics in Edexcel examination. Cyphanah Arshad topped in English as a Second language in the Central Region; Laiba Arshad got highest in the world in mathematics. Hamza Hamid Hussain secured highest marks in Edxcel Mathematics. Mubashira Ali got 3rd highest marks in Business Studies. Abdul Rehman Mustafa scored 4th highest marks in Biology and Chemistry. Syed Wahaj Ahmed got 4th highest marks in Physics as well as 5th highest marks in Chemistry. Teachers of these students were also honored with shields. They were: Nadeem Iqbal Awan, Aizaz Ahmed Khan, Ms. Robina Aizaz, Ms. Aysha, Hassan Jamal and Muhammad Ishtiaq.
Aysha Hanif (Head Girl) and Saud Raees (Head Boy) shared their experiences. In their speeches, they thanked PISES for the quality education, the teachers for their devotion and loyalty, and parents for their care and love that made it all possible.
The musical interludes in the form of tableaus kept audience spellbound. "Welcome Song", "A tribute to parents", Shukaria Pakistan", "Hum Bolain Muhabat Ki Zuban", tableaus on National Songs" and live singing performance of students presented the glimpses of stage activities of the day. Teachers who masterminded these performances included Saqib ur Rehman, Ms. Farrukh Anis, Ms. Maryam Idrees, Ms. Sadia Omer, Ms. Sahibzada Riaz, Ms. Rehana Haroon Ms. Farah Deeba, Sajida Sharief, and Ms. Riffat Sukhera.
Prof. Dr. Sultan congratulated all the students for their achievements and urged them to further work hard in the coming years. He credited the efforts of parents and teachers in this success. He motivated students to pursue higher studies in sciences.
Chief Guest Wazir, in his short address, appreciated the students hard work, teachers efforts and school's achievements. He stressed on the importance of learning by quoting the sayings of the Prophet, pbuh. He said, "Children should be given liberty and chances to pursue academic goals of their own choice. This will help to build their personality as well. I laud the teachers' efforts in imparting knowledge and call on the students to make Pakistan proud."
The chief guest was presented with a memento. The students sung the Pakistan national anthem to mark the end of the ceremony.
