JEDDAH — Captain Ric Reformado inspired Lance & 3rdy to beat Micah's Pride and set up a semifinal match against Petromin Express in the FEDBG-FMBL 12th conference at the Bowling City here recently. Earlier Ekis-3 survived a tough Ball Care team in a match where only ten pins separated the two teams till the 8th frame. Ekis-3 finally managed to outlast its rival 1,275-1,210. Ekis bet Zaldy Bacero boosted his team with 226, while TC/TM Ernie Geslani, Sol Cuenca, Alex Flora Malou Gime and Ruben Gri?0 pitched in with scores of 217, 234, 219, 190 and 195. Top scorer for BCT was Eloisa Fernandez with 268, followed by Grace Funtilon 217 and Caloy Nuguit 205. Randy Mata, Ric Tibayan and TC Emil Payongayong shared the rest of the defense. Up against fourth qualifier Lance & 3rdy, Ekis-3 stayed close till the sixth frame, thanks to Bacero, Gri?o and Flora trying to contain Ramos, Manalo, Evelyn Santoc and Shirley Sagmit. Lance & 3rdy finally made Ekis-3 the fourth runner-up of the tournament with the final tally of 1,342-1,248. Sagmit starred for her team with 259, followed by Med Ramos 249, Marcelo Manalo 229, Ver Jasa 221, Santoc 215 and TC Reformado 168. Bacero, Gri?o and Flora helped Ekis-3 with 267, 240 and 194, while Geslani Cuenca and Gime shared the rest. The third stepladder match started with Micah's Pride burdened by eight marks which they enabled to slash only by seven pins at 1,048-1,055 scratch deal at the end of the fight. Till the seventh frame Micah's Pride was still hopeful. But the hopes fell flat when Ruel Santoc was not able to deliver the goods. Thus despite 201 from Bernabe and 238 from Jarin, defending first runner-up Micah's Pride embraced 4th place with 1,217-1,148 on this L'Occitane Provedence-supported meet. Lance & 3rdy enters the semifinals on a 235 score of Reformado, backed by Santoc's 210 and Sagmit's 218, while Manalo, Ramos and Jasa shared the rest.
