Cuenca and Cavite help their teams win
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 07 - 2012

Sol CuencaPip R. PlanasJEDDAH — Sol Cuenca and Matet Cavite won the Bowler of the week accolade flashing their output with superb hi-games that turned out instrumental for Ekis-3 to blank Lance & 3rdy and for Fed Extreme to humble Micah's Pride on the fourth week of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group Friday Morning Bowling League 12th conference at the Bowling City here.
On the outset Cuenca played support role to Alex Flora and Malou Gime who led Ekis-3 with 224 and 223 that primarily caused initial 1,245-1,103 eclipse of Lance & 3rdy. Finding his path monopoly being the only lefty on the opposing teams, Cuenca switched to lead role with 255 which Ruben Gri?o and Flora cushioned with 225 and 211 to threaten rivals with a shutout on well-fought 1,249-1,153 game 2.
With Gime regaining production and Tommy de Castro preserving consistency, Cuenca fixed his track to supremely propel Ekis-3 with 257 scratch that mainly caused blacking out of the former league-leader at 3,707-3,305 including the 1,213-1,149 endgame.
Cuenca was named the Bowler of the week on handicapped series of 733 on scratch of 676 from games of 183, 235 and 257. Supporting well were Gime with 646, followed by de Castro at 598, and Gri?o (567) while Evelyn Santoc and Med Ramos defended Lance & 3rdy best with their identical 599.
Cavite surprisingly exploded with scratch of 235 to lead Fed Extreme on 1,222-1,087 marginal defeat of Micah's Pride wherein Oca Evangelista, TC Carlos Bustinera and Bobby provided help with 218, 198 & 196. As Cavite slowed down on game 2, Cesar Monares took the helm at 219 and with 216 and 214 push from Bustinera and Jowet Carreon Fed Extreme downed Micah's Pride at 1,204-1,081. With Cavite regaining production and Monares still on the helm, Fed Extreme geared for a kill but Oca Bernabe took the rudder of Micah's Pride and guided teammates with 226. Such initiative from their stalwart forestalled Melvin Lising, Ellen Bernabe, Ruel Santoc, Ronnie de Castro and TC Ester Santoc to cohesively respond and salvage the pride of Micah on last-game victory of 1,193-1,080.
Cavite was crowned lady Bowler of the Week on her handicapped total of 657 on games 262, 189 and 206. Oca Bernabe defended Micah's Pride best at 593.
Other matches showed that Royal Strikers, Ball Care and Pin Rockers
respectively upset D'Mountaineers, Shawly Bowlers and Fire Fox at 11-9, Petromin Express routed X-Alley at 18-2 and defending champion Pin Slasher gained 20 points on unopposed match.
Team standings: Ekis-3 – 103, Lance & 3rdy – 94, Fed Extreme – 86, Shawly Bowlers – 84, Micah's Pride – 73, Petromin Espress – 71, Pin Slasher 68, Pin Rockers – 62, Fire Fox – 57, D' Mountaineers – 56, Ball Care – 53, X-Alley – 49, Royal Strikers – 48.
