JEDDAH – The graduation ceremony for grade 12 students of International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) was held at the school premises, Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Indian Consul General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai said: “It is not necessary to be a top doctor, engineer or a banker. Do something that makes you happy because if you are doing something happily then you will definitely excel in that field. It does not matter what heights you have reached, what position you have achieved, what matters is how good human being you are.” Kidwai advised the students not to deviate from their goals during this important time of life. He also asked the parents to support and guide their children. “Let them achieve their dreams instead of yours, definitely they will excel, they will do very well.” Chief guest Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi, Editor-in-Chief of Arab News, said: “Graduation day marks the achievement of significant life span of a student, you are all going to impact new challenges in a new path, the path of excellence. I wish you all the best.” He added: “With your teachers, keep in mind your parents, and their sacrifices in shaping your life and career.” Wishing the graduates a successful journey, Al-Harthi advised the students to consider journalism as a career. Head of chancery and consul education Muhammad Raghib Qureshi, advising the students to work hard, said: “There is no short cut to success.” Member higher board Dr. M. S. Karimuddin and chairman of managing committee Dr. Khursheed Akhter also addressed the gathering. The school principal delivered a PowerPoint presentation advising students about life. Speeches by the head girl and boy received thunderous applause from the audience. Graduates dressed in their ceremonial gowns received their certificates from Al-Harthi, Karimuddin, Akhter, Kidwai and Qureshi. Earlier, the ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Qur'an by Sayeed Ahmed followed by a welcome speech from the principal. The program was hosted by Bushra Zaidi and Maria Des. The vote of thanks was delivered by vice principle Dr. Najeeb Qais.
