JEDDAH — The 43rd Annual Prize Day was conducted on June 24 in the auditorium of International Indian School (IISJ), boys' section. On this momentous occasion, the meritorious students of grades six to 12 were given proficiency awards and the teachers of grade 12 were felicitated with appreciation awards for 100 percent results obtained in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in March 2012. The headmistresses of grades nine to 12 of both the girls' and boys' section were honored with mementos. The program began with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an by Mirza Abdullah Baig of grade 11B5 followed by the translation from Syed Ahmed of grade 12 B 3. The Chief Guest of the evening, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom, Hamid Ali Rao; the Guest of Honour, Consul General, Faiz Ahmed Kidwai; wife of consul general Kausar Kidwai; Consul Commercial and Culture Shakeel Ahmed were given a floral welcome. Other guests present on the occasion were members of the higher board, Dr. M. S. Kareemuddin, chairman, and members of the school managing committee. The principal, vice-principals, headmistresses, teachers, parents and the meritorious students were all in attendance. The Headboy, Vazim Latheef, welcomed the gathering. Principal Syed Masood Ahmed presented the annual report and informed the audience about the various activities and achievements of the school in the previous academic year. IISJ has achieved 100 percent result for the second consecutive year in the AISSCE. The students of IISJ excel not only in academics but also in extra curricular activities. IISJ believes in the holistic development of the students. Hence, a variety of activities were introduced in the curriculum to implement the CCE in the school. To enhance the teaching pedagogy, pragmatic workshops and interactive sessions were held for teachers of all the sections. The Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Dr. Md. Khursheed Akhtar acknowledged the efforts of the school staff, parents and students in maintaining the high standard of education of the school. He also promised to render unreserved support to the school. Kareemudin congratulated the IISJ team on the historic results of Class XII. He requested the parents and students to give a standing ovation to the teachers, headmistresses, vice principals and the dynamic principal for their tireless efforts in coaching the students. Kareemudin asked the parents not to pressurize the school for stream allotment. He also announced that the revision of salary of school staff will take place every three years. Kidwai appreciated the principal and the staff for the good results. He said that the students of IISJ excel in communication skills but need to develop a competitive spirit to be at par with the rest of the world. He observed that pay revision must be a continuous process. Rao felt that there would be paradise on earth if people followed principles and values in life. He expressed his plan of setting up rules and an appropriate system for everything so that there is transparency and objectivity in all matters which will help in getting better results. He said that success is a journey, so the combined efforts of students, teachers and parents will always be required. Headgirl Fazeela Rizvi proposed the vote of thanks. — SG
