Saeed Al Khotani Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Bahrain will host the 33 summit of the Supreme Council of GCC states next Monday and Tuesday. The summit of the Gulf heads of states will be held in Manama, according to GCC Council Secretary-General Dr. Abdullateef Al-Zayani. “The summit comes at a very delicate time in the region that demand the GCC states to carefully study the implications and consequences of these situations in order to sustain the progress of the GCC states and to preserve the achievements of these states for the benefit of its citizens,” he said in statement issued here Wednesday. Al-Zayani underscored the importance and effective role the Kingdom has played in fostering cooperation in the GCC during Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah's term of presidency of the Supreme Council. The Kingdom has enhanced cooperation and unity among the Gulf States. He hoped that the progress of the Gulf States will continue under Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who takes over the presidency of the Supreme Council in its 33 session. He mentioned that the GCC foreign ministers will meet prior to the summit on Sunday to put the finalize the agenda. “The agenda will include many issues related to joint efforts by Gulf states in political, economic, and social spheres. Also, the follow up reports that need actions from heads of states will be discussed in addition to the current regional and international political issues,” he said.
