JEDDAH – Police patrols in Jeddah caught two Arab youths red-handed with perfumes worth SR200,000 that they had stolen from a shop in north Jeddah's Al-Safa district. The arrests were made two hours after police received a complaint from the shop owner. Jeddah police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said all stolen goods were recovered from the thieves. He said a Saudi citizen called police to inform them that some thieves broke into his shop at about 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday and got away with Oud and perfumes. Several patrol units launched a massive manhunt in the district and neighboring areas. During the search one patrol team found two people carrying two bags acting suspiciously. When officers chased the men, they tried to run away but were caught. Al-Bouq said the youths, aged 24 and 28, were Yemeni nationals and they confessed to the crime. They broke the lock of the shop, which they had been watching for a few days, and stole the goods some time after shutting down the shop in the evening, he said. The Yemenis entered the Kingdom illegally, Al-Bouq said, warning the public against employing, providing transport or shelter to illegal foreigners.
