A gang of 11 Yemeni thieves was busted in the city, Friday. The gang members were allegedly involved in several thefts and shop break-ins in the Makkah region. The leader of the gang is reportedly a legal resident and a cab driver who stole 40 laptops from a computer shop in Jeddah and robbed other shops selling foodstuff and construction materials. The gang members were put under surveillance for a period of time and their activities monitored. Some gang members were nabbed selling stolen laptops at cheap rates to shopkeepers. Colonel Mesfir Al-Juaid, spokesman of Jeddah Police, said that 11 Yemenis had been arrested and had confessed to their role in 30 burglaries.
