JEDDAH — Zultec beat IDB by 12 runs, Crown Steel scraped past APF by 10 runs and Dopco Stars pulled off a thrilling 28-run win over AOT GFC in the CMDA Premier Tournament here recently. CMDA Premier Tournament 2012, being organized by the Western Province Cricket Association, is sponsored by Crown Steel Engineering, My Care Hala, Dopco Engineers, AOT GFC, Hyundai under WPCA banner. The first match saw Zultec opt to bat first. Usman made 42 as Javed Iqbal, who hammered an unbeaten 76 (9 fours and a six), added 133 with Afaque, who also remained unbeaten on 57, and took the team total to 229-3. Ijaz, Babar and Sarfaraz accounted for a wicket each. IDB, in response, lost wickets at regular intervals but maintained the run rate to get to 110-5. Yassir made 24 and Khalid Butt 27. Ijaz had quick-fire 50 (6 fours and 2 sixes) as he added 60 runs with Khurram. In the later stage Ishfaque went on the rampage with 5 sixes and one four to remain unbeaten on 40 to take the total to 217 but fall short by 12 runs. Wajahat took 3-36, Afaque 2-22 while a wicket each went to Khalid Iqbal and Usman. In the second outing, Crown Steel won the toss and elected to bat. It reached 107 for 5, before Abuhuraira hit 28 and Kamran 27 to take the score to 177. Nadeem took 3-32, Arshad Chaudhry 2-40 and Farooq 2-41 as a wicket each fell to Abdulqayyum and Adalat. APF, in reply, found Khurram Karamat in great touch. He blasted 79 off 40 balls (9 fours and 4 sixes). But once he was back in the pavilion APF was bundled out for 167. Ijaz Sagheer took 4-27, Abuhuraira 2-36 and Hammad 2-27. The third match saw Dopco Stars opt to bat first, but was bowled out for 131. Maqsood hit 41 and Nadeem 30. Salman took 3-8, Zeeshan 3-17, Imran Yusuf 2-23 and Kashif 2-38. AOT GFC was bundled out for 103 as Abbas top scored with 15 not out. Shoaib Ali had 3-12, Shahbaz 2-27 and Khurram 2-16.
