RIYADH – Thong Asuncion unleashed one of his fiery performances to help Air21 emerge as bag the the Team of the Week and also claim the best bowler awards in the 14th Week of the IBG Friday Bowling League, 2nd Conference at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC). Mabuhay Mobily in partnership with Globe is the sponsor of the league which is being organized by the Itqan Bowlers Group (IBG). Asuncion, well-known for his stylish game, shot a towering four-game series of 972 to claim the Bowler of the Week honor. Asuncion's sterling display powered Air 21 past the Itqan Tenpin Wizards, 25-13. Asuncion, equipped with 8 handicaps per game, carded 252, 226, 226 and 236. Sharing spotlight with him were Leo Mabunga (872), Jove Marano (845) and Shawn Rickett (809). Ruel Toledo and Jojo Paciano dazzled too by adding separate series of 399 and 373 in two games. For the Itqan Tenpin Wizards, posting the best scores were Ric Singson, Doy del Moral and Reynald Medina. At the helm was team captain Singson with 824 and he was followed by Del Moral (817) and Medina (814). Southpaw Nap Torres submitted 776 points while Ronald Cruz pocketed 745 points. In other lanes, NBA walloped Xperts, 24-4 through the combined effort of Mike Ecalnir (923), 5-time Perfect 300 holder, Ronald Bautista (763) and Joe Garrido (759). Ryan Inigo and youthful Earl de Vera downed 416 and 366 in two outings. At the helm in the Xperts team, having a blind player in the line-up, was little known Dong Yanco with 799 points. Next best came from Roger Buffer (769), multi-titlist Ernee Noto (727) and Will Kirby (620). In another game, league leaders D'Pirates proved too strong to humiliate SACO, 23-11 and tighten their hold on the top spot. Hard-hitting Andro Tismo led in D'Pirates by downing a four-game series scratch of 861 points. Johnny Penicilla knocked down 606 points. Erwin Nacario and veteran Edwin Atienza pinned down separate series of 569 and 462. The triumvirate of Dennis Gabriel, Celis Viloria and Bembol Velasco seared the lanes to score 429, 422 and 413 series in two games while the petite Fareed Aquino shared 395 points. Buddy “japan” Balisi shot 840 points to topscore in SACO and coming next to him were Jun Sebastian (687), Nickson Mesa (590), Fred Zacarias (566) and Jim dela Rosa (544). Ferdie dela Rosa scored 382 series in two outings.
