Munwarunissa Nazneen Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — As Jeddah jubilantly celebrated the Saudi National Day, the atmosphere at Al Waha was no less festive as the school celebrated the occasion on September 24. Rubab Azad, Head Mistress of Al Waha International School said that everyone came to school earlier to take part in the celebrations. Khalid, the Principal of the boys' section echoed the sentiments of the students with patriotic fervour. The students sang the Saudi National anthem after which, they were ushered to their respective classes. In the girls' section, the school ground was decorated with Saudi Arabian flags and posters of King Abdullah, Custodian of the two Holy Mosques. A banner marking the event was displayed prominently, engraving in the minds of both teachers and students the significance of the National Day. Short speeches were also delivered by teachers and students alike at both sections. At lunchtime, boys and girls unpacked their Arabic delicacies that they had brought from home, and in keeping with the Saudi culture, they shared their meal with each other. Dates were also distributed to the students. Traditional Saudi music marked the end of the celebration.
